McLaughlin, 25, was one of the many Bruins prospects looking to earn a spot on the NHL roster. However, the North Billerica, Massachusetts native will again join the Providence Bruins, assuming he clears waivers first.

McLaughlin played in one game for Boston last season, recording one goal and a plus-1 rating. He also played in 68 games for Providence, where he had eight goals, six assists, and a minus-7 rating.
