Jackson Blue, an on-air radio personality on Boston’s Country 102.5 for over 10 years, has been let go due to budget cuts, the DJ announced this week.

Beasley Media Group, which owns close to 60 radio stations in the U.S., announced a 7% reduction of their workforce in Boston, Philadelphia, Fort Myers, and Charlotte. The news came one day prior to their 2024 first-quarter earnings report.

“I’m getting fired from radio for the first time. People always told me, forever, you’ve never made it in radio until you get fired from the first time,” Blue remarked in a Facebook video.

Blue articulated confidence that he would find his footing again in the media business.

Also in Boston, Jaybeau Jones from 105.7 WROR, another Beasley station, was let go. Jones will still appear on SiriusXM’s ’70s on 7 channel, she said.

The news comes on the heels of an announcement earlier this week that WZLX in Boston would be parting ways with morning show hosts Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford. Their slot will be filled by a show hosted by Rich Shertenlieb, formerly of “Toucher and Rich” on 98.5 The Sports Hub.

Blue announced his firing on Tuesday over Facebook with the message, “I just got released from Country 102.5. I’ll miss all of my amazing listeners … but I’ll be ok. Video coming soon.”

In said video, Blue concluded by saying, “Bad move, Beasley. Bad move.”
