Potters Legend – 1pt Each Way – 9/2 (4 places)

singleSelection

My first selection today comes in the Veteran’s Handicap Chase at Doncaster.

Potters Legend nearly one for us two runs back at Doncaster but he found Ladronne too good. That winner ties in with other horses that I have tipped up such as Monbeg Genius, Bretney and Stormy Flight. I like those form lines and am confident he just bumped into a useful one that day and they pulled 8 lengths clear of third. Catterick is right-handed and Brian Hughes commented after the race that Potters Legend had hung left-handed throughout the race.

Next time out they ran Potters Legend at Wincanton which is a sharp, right-handed track which to me makes no sense. In my opinion, that couldn’t be much further from what he wants if they tried. He subsequently got outpaced and made no real impression on the race, finishing 7th

They now send him to Doncaster which is a left-handed galloping track and I think that will be right up his street. His fourth best RPR was achieved here as a Novice when second in a Grade 2 behind Present Man. His only other run here was a 3rd, so two solid runs.

He was put up 3lb for his second two runs back but he has since come back down 1lb for this run the last day. I think that from 2lb higher, around a track that should suit and back into Veteran company, he can run a massive race for us today and I’d be disappointed if he couldn’t finish in the first four.

The main danger in the race is Domaine De L’Isle who I have mentioned and/or tipped up a couple of times. He is rapidly plummeting down the weights and interestingly drops into Veteran company here and see’s first time head gear go on. This could have been the plan all along and if so, he could win this comfortably but on form, he just looks a regressive horse.

I Am Gonna Be – 1pt Each Way – 19/4 (Bet365, Each Way Extra, 3 places)

singleSelection

My second and final bet today is I Am Gonna Be in the following race at Doncaster.

This horse has done very little wrong this season. He started off with a second at Uttoxeter before going one better at Newcastle the following month. He was given a break before then coming back out at Musselburgh where he was second again. That Musselburgh form looks solid with the winner Coral Blue winning again at Ayr on Monday and with the third going close at Musselburgh on Wednesday. I Am Gonna Be was only put up 1lb for that run as well.

Musselburgh looked to be sharp enough for this Mare who seemed to find it all happening a bit fast before staying on well at the finish. Luca seemed to notice the winner was gone and just did enough to sneak into 2nd place without finishing up the backside of the winner, which would have likely incurred a higher rise in the weights. Very much like Potters Legend in the race before, I think this horse will appreciate this more galloping track and can run a massive race.

It’s a shame there is not more runners to get three places as standard. However, Bet365 offer Each Way Extra whereby you can take extra places for a shorter price. They are offering 19/4 for 3 places (1/4 odds for a place) and I think that is a cracking bet here.

I’d have the main danger as Ilovethenightlife who is a lovely mare that I rate highly. I actually put her up when she unseated the last day and if none the worse for that, she would have a serious chance. However, she’s drifting slightly in the market and I wonder if they are just going to give her a confidence boosting run here rather than throwing the kitchen sink at her.
