Ready for a snug fall in Massachusetts? According to a new study, Boston is one of the coziest places in the world.

United Kingdom-based travel insurance company AllClear analyzed the coziest cities in the world, and Boston made the top 20 spots.

In the United States, Boston was named the second coziest city, outranking New York, New York, and Chicago, Illinois.

Among the rest of the world, Boston was named the No. 13 coziest city. Brussels, Belgium, took the top spot on the list, for its cafes and indoor activities.

Here’s why Boston scored high on the list.

How cozy is Boston?

A study from travel insurance company AllClear named Boston the second coziest city in the United States, and the thirteenth-coziest in the world.

The study analyzed several factors, such as the number of cafes per square mile, the number of historical sites and the amount of rainfall in the city.

Each city was given a cozy score out of 100, and Boston earned a 48.2/100.

“No surprise given Boston’s renowned fall foliage, set against a backdrop of colonial-era architecture that keeps visitors feeling cosy as they wander,” the company said in a release.

The only U.S. city ahead of Boston on the list was San Francisco, California. Only four U.S. cities made the list’s top 20 scorers — Chicago, Illinois, was No. 17 and New York, New York, was No. 20.

Which cities are the coziest in the world?

European destinations dominated AllClear’s list of coziest cities in the world. Here are the top 10:

  1. Brussels, Belgium
  2. Paris, France
  3. Geneva, Switzerland
  4. Copenhagen, Denmark
  5. Lisbon, Portugal
  6. Barcelona, Spain
  7. Athens, Greece
  8. Victoria, Canada
  9. Bath, United Kingdom
  10. Dublin, Ireland

How the world’s coziest cities were analyzed

The travel insurance company AllClear analyzed the coziest cities in the world by looking at several categories, then giving each category a weighted score out of 100 and combining the totals.

Here are the categories that determined each city’s score:

  • Number of UNESCO World Heritage sites per square mile
  • Number of bookstores per square mile
  • Number of cafes per square mile
  • Number of cinemas, theaters and museums per square mile
  • Annual precipitation
  • Number of Instagram posts for each city, using “#cozy(city)”
