Celtics Star Kristaps Porzingis’ Injury Status For Eastern Conference Finals Given Hopeful Update

Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis may take a while to return to the court.

The 7-foot-2 big man was unable to play in the entirety of the Celtics’ Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to a right calf strain, which they concluded in five games. 

Porzingis is also expected to miss the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals, but there is hope that he will make his comeback within the series, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Celtics are awaiting the winner of the second-round series between the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers, where the Knicks currently hold a 3-2 lead entering Game 6 on Friday, May 17th.

Porzingis has not played since sustaining the non-contact right calf strain in Game 4 of their first-round series against the Miami Heat on April 29.  

Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis’ Injury Status

Porzingis is likely to miss Game 1 and Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, scheduled for Tuesday, May 21, and Thursday, May 23, respectively, at the TD Garden in Boston.

The Latvian center has been progressing in his recovery, increasing his on-court activity in preparation for an anticipated return within the series.

Veteran Al Horford has been serving as the Celtics’ starting center since the 28-year-old went down.
